Looking but not seeing—call it invisible; listening but not hearing—call it silent; grasping but not touching—call it subtle. These three cannot be fully questioned, so they blend into one. Its top is not bright, its bottom is not dark; endlessly unnamable, it returns to nothingness. This is the form of the formless, the image of no image—this is the vague and elusive. Meet it, and you see no face; follow it, and you see no back. Hold the ancient Way to master what is now; know the ancient beginning—this is the thread of the Way.
