三十辐共一毂，当其无，有车之用。
埏埴以为器，当其无，有器之用。
凿户牖以为室，当其无，有室之用。
故有之以为利，无之以为用。

Translation

Thirty spokes share one hub—it is the emptiness at the center that makes the cart useful. Mold clay to make a vessel—it is the emptiness within that makes the vessel useful. Cut doors and windows for a room—it is the emptiness that makes the room useful. Therefore, what is present gives profit, but what is absent gives utility.
