Chapter 10

Embracing Unity

Carrying the soul and embracing the One—can you never leave them? Focusing the breath and making it soft—can you be like an infant? Cleansing the mysterious mirror—can you be without blemish? Loving the people and governing the state—can you do it without action? The gate of heaven opens and closes—can you be like the female? Reaching in all four directions—can you be without knowledge? Giving birth and nurturing, giving birth without possessing, acting without relying, leading without ruling—this is called mysterious virtue.
